Astrocytomas are the most common neuroectodermal tumor of dogs.
Other tumors included in the differential diagnosis are sinonasal undifferentiated carcinomas, Ewing sarcoma / Primitive neuroectodermal tumor, leukemia, rhabdomyosarcoma, and melanoma.
Defects in this gene are associated with hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, with Turcot syndrome, and are a cause of supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors.
The ASCO study showed 52 % posterior fossa; 39 % sPNET ( supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors ); 5 % spinal, and 2 % multi-focal.
